Very mixed thoughts on this book so far. I'm having the same reaction to this book that I have to most right wing pundits: I agree that modern identity politics has issues and victimhood has become a currency. Yet, these anti-identity politics folks swing too far in the other direction and seem to think that there should be NO move to address systemic oppression and that there should be no groups based on identity

Some good arguments against Affirmative Action here. I really need to look into this lawsuit against Harvard for discriminating against Asian Americans. I do know the suit was dismissed, but I don't know the details of the case. Conservatives cite it all the time, while Progressives call it a conspiracy theory that didn't happen. I gtg find out for myself.

Some stuff here is interesting and has valid points. The history of how the group 'Hispanic' was formed is interesting, and the author makes a good point that the term makes little sense; Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, people from DR, etc are really not a homogenous group. They have vastly diff cultures and experiences. Where he is losing me: deriding stuff like the phrase "diversity is out strength"
