Just waiting for someone to slip up...an unstoppable force meets an immovable object.

I've had to cut back on post because they are all spoliers. p.217 starts Part 2 and everything changes. I was right about some stuff and way off on others. I CAN say that the suspense has really kicked up a notch and the book has become a thriller.

Another Amy Chapter and we meet Desi. I'm beginning to wonder if Amy has done this to herself? Has she staged her abduction because Nick wasn't a great husband? And her final revenge is seeing him take the fall for her years of unhappiness? Amy's diary entries show her being an exceptional wife, what if Nick "got in the way" of her dream life?

Ok so let's assume this is a story about a murder. In any mystery there are suspects, we've only met a few so far: Nick, Amy, Margo, Desi, Hillary and Noelle. The other minor characters are too removed to be the killer, if there is one. Now we meet Andie, and here is our motive.

Finally after a lot of scene setting and character building we finally get a solid clue. I'm beginning to think Nick wanted a divorce and Amy got sad then vengeful and did her treasure hunt and is waiting for Nick, somewhere. I kinda hope Amy is dead and Nick has suppressed memories too. Don't disappoint me book.

Amy recounts how Nick missed their anniversary because his work colleagues were laid off on the same day. Amy finds a girls phone number on a scrap of paper Nick discards.
Nick begins the anniversary treasure hunt, and talks to Marybeth and Rand about their daughter.
Nick loses his job, Amy's parents go bankrupt

Nick is talking to the police. He admits he's lying to them, at least about how well his marriage is going. P. 49, "My wife was no longer my wife but a razor-wire knot daring me to unloop her." He sees his dad and Margo. There is no "Missing Wives for Dummies" book. A murder most foul? I don't know what to think yet.

Amy's diary entries all take place in the past, besides what Nick tells us, we don't know what Amy is thinking at present. It's interesting to see how Nick thinks about his wife. The paragraph on p.29 was interesting I wonder how close to home it was for married couples. Is Amy disillusioned about married life? (BTW, she's GONE) Where was Nick before he met Margo at The Bar?

Amy's diary entry was a good introduction. Cut to Nick at The Bar with his twin sister Margo. It's his 5 year anniversary, the wooden one, very traditional. I wonder why? His wife plans elaborate treasure hunts to her favourite memories that Nick struggles to remember. Nick keeps dropping hints of a time when Amy's quirks were enjoyable, like Nick's out grown her, or maybe Amy never grew up? Smells like divorce.
