Re-reading this, enjoying it a lot more this time round than I did twenty years ago, when I got it from a local library. Maybe it's because I want to be more immersed in that sixties beatnik Soho scene than I did the first time I read it. Maybe it's because I was drinking too much ruby wine (as Bert often referred to it) then, and I just couldn't remember it.

Re reading this gem. There's been far too little written about the folk baroque era.
