There have been a number of times when characters speak in the past tense when I don’t think they would. “Did Nolan have a computer?” He was alive ten minutes ago when he drove away, why are we speaking about him in the last tense. I also remover Lara speaking about how Ava loves her dolls in the past tense. As her mother shouldn’t you assume that she’s still alive?

Some notes so far
-this author is obviously a Christian because prayer is mentioned every other page. The main characters pray, the town holds prayer vigils, the town and school seem to be christian because they put in a big Christmas production and have the students make Christmas ornaments in the classroom
-I thought the author might be British because she has a strange way of wording things sometimes
