So the Cosmic Background Radiation is actually ordinary starlight from a steady-state universe that's been redshifted by interstellar dust which mostly consists of bacteria that produce carbon microtubes.
Looking at contemporary reviews, I haven't yet found one which straightforwardly says that the famous Professor Hoyle has gone mad. You wonder which contemporary pop science reviewers are being equally polite.
