I remember reading reviews on this before starting to read it and I don’t get what people are slating this book for.
It’s a gay love story between a non verbal and a verbal boy both with different coming out story’s like any gay book one family is always against it and will always come up in the storyline it’s to be expected to read about the homophobia in a family and even more so at the school #snowflakes

Not finished it yet, but saying that. It’s such a wonderfully told story. It’s very rare to think of having a friendship or relationship with a non verbal person and it’s been done in such a way that it doesn’t feel weird or rude or insensitive to non verbal people. I feel like it’s giving a voice to another section of people that allow them to be visible and heard
