So much learned in Ch. 3 “Going Without”, from the deprivation of wealth and financial sustenance for Black and white families because of rising costs for education, to understanding how Texas’ reluctance to adopt Medicaid protections for its people has left many of its people, including its White non-Hispanic population, without proper access to hospitals and medical care, all because the ACA is Obama’s plan

“The zero sum is a story by wealthy interests for their own profits, and its persistence requires people desperate enough to buy it. … Until we destroy the idea, opponents of progress can always unearth it and use it to block any collective action that benefits us all” (14-15).
