Her books were hit and miss for me

I've liked a few other things by her that I've read but I think this was her first attempt at horror and she just came at it from a very unusual angle. Didn't really work.

Spending too much time introducing characters in what was definitely a plot driven novel. Telling side stories that really only served to suggest that something spooky was happening in the area. And the voice she used in this novel was very different than her usual writing voice. It kind of resembled Stephen King's writing voice a bit. That wouldn't necessarily be a problem but I bet it's kind of startling or at least disappointing to her fans. It read as though someone else had written it. I'm sure Jodi Picoult did write it. It was just a totally different style than how her books usually read.

Aah okay gotcha.. points for her being brave enough to try something different though
