I’ll always love the simplicity and beauty in how Murakami describes the world, but the characters need so much more dimension. This girl is so cool and quiet, this girl is so materialistic and personality-less. Hopefully this changes as the story progresses but if not I hope he can focus more on the city and the city life.

The dialogue is not good tbh. Very much “let me explain my character” type dialogue. Again thought, it’s the random gestures, the quiet moments captured, the mystery of the ordinary world that is brought to light that I keep reading.
