Book raised questions of culture - a population of c 175000 and so many wordsmiths. Obvs not much diversity due to geography, politics (Black US servicemen prohibited at the base) and time. Pros and cons. Wish Cumbria had a stronger tradition for words. Has it been lost? Is it there but so diluted? What price do we pay (if any) for diluting our cultures/embracing diversity? Very apt cf contemporary Japan.
