ok, I take back my earlier comment. There are some interesting discussions of some of her work although they could be a little more technical & less hyperbolic. Still, I'm liking it better. I still can't stand her but she I must admit she's entertaining to read about!
I went to MOMA yesterday & saw her great work "Ladybug." Very powerful.

I was ready to abandon this book: I am so glad I didn't. I now can't stop reading (although I'm a little overwhelmed by its length). Mitchell is a complicated artist, still not likable in my opinion but certainly a great painter and interesting to read about. Her ultimately tragic life makes for a great narrative.

I admire Mitchell's work. From what I've read I don't much like the person. That doesn't matter to me looking at her art but do I need to read her bio? This one, so far, doesn't reflect much on her work. Or maybe not enough to keep going.
