The writing is definitely improving over the course of the series but it's still frustratingly heavy-handed at times. "I'm not very good at getting on with people... as you know." Yes, David Drake, I have read nearly 2000 pages of this story by now. I know she's not a people person. Please credit your audience with having a tiny shred of memory.

Out late last night and overslept this morning so I have only read 9 pages in 24 hours! :(
Feels like this should be getting to a conclusion some time soon. The things that were bugging me are still bugging me but it's definitely the most competent of the series so far.
