Teaching the dogs that it's okay to bite their own handlers is fuckin' insane.
No wonder we didn't have much in the way of MWDs between Vietnam and Afghanistan.

I assume Harlan was part of the lil' group she interviewed for this book, but narratively it is nonsense that we spent a chapter with him if they never met him or Greta during the course of this story. If each chapter was a self-contained story about a specific handler and dog, that would make sense, but it's NOT.

This chapter is like some kind of writing exercise. "Now write introductions for all your characters." There's no STORY here. They are all utterly AVERAGE. There's nothing to say about them other than that they sure were farm boys. This is basic level writing meltddown.

Sudden switch to a cutesy style in this chapter, with the dog's POV, is really weird.
