Kari This book sounds interesting. Just my 2 cents on The Bluest Eye. I reread it this year after having first read it maybe 25 years ago? My understanding of things have deepened since then and honestly the book kind of wrecked me this time around, however I also found more clarity in why this book is an important read, but also just that its an amazing book, and solidifying it as one of my all time favorites despite it being not easy to read on an emotional level. All this is to say if you feel up to reading The Bluest Eye read it. The payoff is worth it.

The Amistad Literary series (of which this book is a part of) is an excellent collection of literary analysis of popular African American writers, edited by the Henry Louis Gates, Jr., so it's bound to be brilliant. I highly recommend it!

And I'm really looking forward to The Bluest Eye now. I consciously spoiled myself, so that I knew what to prepare for. Happy to hear the book came to mean even more to you after a quarter of a century!
