Eros is the beginning of human moral life, and Beauty in art and literature are oftentimes more effective than religion in awakening eros within us. By eros we mean the love that makes us forget ourselves entirely and run towards the other without any regard for ourselves.

Non-being came into being by renouncing itself after contact with the beauty of a cosmic Theophany.
No one ever became holy by fighting evil. We only become holy by falling in love with Christ.
Beauty heals the ugliness of trauma, which is anti-theophany. Talk therapy and remembering trauma can be harmful. Films are indulging in trauma.
Purification-ascesis (Beauty) = attempting to fall in love with Christ.

Christ as "the sinner" in the Jesus prayer. When we pray as "the sinner", we identify with Christ who took on the sins of others through love (moral culpability is not intrinsic).
Pride is not the first and most important sin. It always starts with concupiscence, not intellectual sins. An early East-West difference.
The virtues should be pursued in this order: Chastity (Beauty) →Empathy (Goodness) →Humility (Truth)

What they seem to somehow do is that they take all of your pain, all of your isolation trauma. they may do this through weeping where you can't being outraged where you can't. What is crucial though, is that their intention is not to change you. Their only aim is to suffer for you.
The point of Christ's suffering, of his liturgy, is that He can take all of the chaos and convert it into life. Now that is liturgy.

The opposite of war is liturgy. It is an act that purifies and knits the character together, whereas trauma unravels our character. Trauma excommunicates and teaches heresy.
Freud can be taken as the first step toward the recovery of the way of the heart in the West, but he can just as accurately be interpreted as the final step of a rationalism that wanted to kill the power of the mystical heart.
