Finished the Ivor Gurney selection. Most of which I'd never read before. The strongest - and most heart-breaking - poems aren't the poems about war directly but the ones he wrote in the asylum - Farewell and An Appeal for Death being two examples.

The first poet is Ivor Gurney. It feels pretty Keatsian, until it doesn't.

I have read the introduction and editorial notes, which have roman numeral page numbers. So, p3 has been proceeded by 54 pages of introduction. I have read all of Wilfred Owen's poetry but not much of either Gurney or Rosenberg outside anthologies. But re-reading Owen is always worth it.
