I’ve been meaning to read this, but I always hesitate before tackling these 1,000 page monsters

It's as well written as the first one, continues on the lives of people in Kingsbridge - Caris who yearns to be a doctor but cannot (because she's a woman), Godwyn the antithesis of Prior Phillip, Merthin (somewhat like Jack Builder in talent and drive) and terrible squires and villains. Page turner indeed, it doesn't feel like 1000 pages plus!
I'm halfway through and it's so enlightening about the trials and challenges in 14th century England, Follett's research seems sound and well done.

The first one was great, so I'll get to it one of these days!
