I forget how “inhuman” the main cast is. Of course I removed the characters but rereading this first book always reminds me-rather jarringly- that the owner and his employees truly don’t care about how they affect human lives. There’s no justification but at the same time there is. They’re not human so can they really be held to human standards? 9.5/10

I adore this book. I love the mystery of the Innkeeper and his helpers (Butterfly and Spider). I like that this series starts with individual vignettes so we get a better feel for each of the core three before starting to tie things back together in the fourth and final story. Perfect book for spooky season and for anyone who enjoys the supernatural with just a hint of existentialism. 10/10

Reading again!! I have the next two books of the series (8 and 9) but I love it so much that I’m just gonna read the first seven again.

A collection of short stories with an overarching arch is something that can be so wonderful if don’t properly. This is one of those times. I love getting little snippets of backstory here and there. I love the mystery and knowing I’ll have to read more to figure out what’s going on.

I’ve read this book before but I still love it! I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not really sure what’s going on all the time. But the story has my curiosity piqued and the art is truly GORGEOUS!!!
