The stories just keep getting better and better. I’ll admit at first I didn’t care much for Butterfly but after the Cherry Tree story in the last book and seeing his continued growth in this one, he’s starting to grow on me. My favorite enigma had to be #13. It that really makes a story stay with you. Our treatment of others, no matter how small or inconsequential it seems, has consequences. 9/10

SPIDER!! I love you <3 So excited to finally get to know more about the once human inhabitant of the inn. Getting to know a bit about Butterfly in the last book was like a sampler for this story. It’s possibly one of my favorites in the whole series.

Rereading

Oh, Spider. Oh, Butterfly. <3 They’re so cute. Then again, I think Owner is cute to and he’s definitely killed people so maybe I’m not the best judge of character. But there are some REALLY sweet moments in this book. I remember when I started this series the first time I thought it would be episodic (like Mushishi). I’m glad I was wrong.

With every book the characters become so alive. I thought I couldn’t enjoy these books anymore than I already do but I was wrong. Even after everything we’ve learned it feels like I’ve barely scratched the surface.
