I think for a novella this was pretty decent. It probably could've been even better as a novel with more content but it didn't need to be. It had a good amount of action and backstory. I'd say the author has some weaknesses and those carry over into this novella, but overall I'm pleased. Though I didn't love the insta-connections, especially with Ridge. The connections in the main series felt more organic.
