I’ve been reading this slowly. It’s still not much happening, Control who is the new Director of Southern Reach is still walking around not doing too much. Ghost Bird, the biologist from the first book and movie, can’t remember much and Control is having a administrative terf-war with the assistant director.

So far its been slow. I want to know more about Area-X, where all the interesting things are. But I feel I’m mostly just getting behind the scenes things, how Southern Reach operates, how “Control” is. Can’t wait to go back into Area-X.

Compared to the first installment this feels so different. Still full of mysteries, but it’s also so weird seeing Ghost Bird from this POV.
