This is True Blood but make it mermaids and even dumber and I’m really enjoying it I’m sorry 😭
The cop love interest is trash and I’m only able to get through that part of the story by imagining him as the character/actor of Corey Welch from that show Tidelands.
The thing is I’m loving the mermaid lore/backstory of Shelley and the cousins. It’s scratching my perpetual mermaid itch lol

This is a mermaid murder mystery/romance. Gives me some True Blood/Tidelands vibes. Good escapist fun. Also mermaids.
A side note, I really like the descriptions/lore of the mermaids in this book.
