We have five days of the year left and I picked up another big book. Do I hate myself? Yes, but no, because, jesus christ, do I love being back in this world. I love Pullman and I hate Pullman. Whenever I read these books, the world completely takes over my life. I am there. I am experiencing this story. And that's really the best thing one can do with a fantasy book.

Like I said on page 503, I hate Philip Pullman. I had heard of the devastation that is the end of this series, but I was not expecting to cry like 5 times during the last 100 pages. What a book, and what a series. Yes, you could maybe call the ending of this bit stretched, but I think that pace is precisely what made it so harrowing. I am beyond mad at myself for DNF'ing this for a few years. Beautiful and profound.

I'm really enjoying Lyra's and Will's chapters (like that's the series i love!) but when we're elsewhere my kinda just starts thrifting elsewhere. like I don't wanna say I don't care cus that wouldn't be accurate but my intrigue is definitely much lower.

Though I'm loving being back in Pullman's word and writing, there is something keeping me from completely loving this to pieces but i can't tell you what. I'm still really enjoying it – and I wanna say every part of it but I don't know yet. Let's see if I'll manage to finish this this year... 😬
