This is my first McCarthy read. I am aggravated by the lack of quotation marks, BUT am loving the novel so far.
I wasn't expecting so much technology to be incorporated (boats, diving equipment, etc.). I haven't determined the time period yet, and am enjoying the challenge of figuring it out. There are specific historical references that give the readers clues.

I sense that I could very well be on the cusp of reading a literary masterpiece. However, for a first read the alternating sections are beginning to effect my overall interest. There is one storyline that I'm more attracted to, and I want to be able to run with that one. However, there are enough seeds in both narratives to know that they are connected. So hopefully the payoff will be worth it.
