The one thing about light-paranormal that I consistently dislike is that it lacks the existential crises that come when paranormal is proved. Do you realize how freaked out I would be about this entire universe if I learned demons exist and a second later learn that the divine exists! The fact that this character is an atheist means she should be flipping out.

Where Claimings was crawling into a technical mind this anthology is climbing into an emotional, poetic mind. Sometimes it is too much but I def feel more home in this. It is far closer to my own voice.

Sarah Diemer's Surfacing was pretty stark... I need to read another story real quick before this turns into a complete trigger for me.. But I have to admit it was a really really good story. It's female empowerment in stark scenarios.

"We can make instant coffee with the push of a button. We can touch screens and talk to our phones and do all sorts of awesome, space-age things, and we still don’t have lesbian main characters in young adult books"
