The original trilogy was all about strategy. This new one feels like it's about politics, which is strategy within bureaucracy. In other words, boring.

Maybe that's why there's other characters. The person I liked reading about most thus far is the Darrow-esque Lysander, maybe because he's young enough to undergo an interesting character arch, but also maybe just because he's in an interesting setting.
