I have difficulty with this style, its sort of a journalistic travelogue, which I struggle with every time, he talks about his travels to east Turkestan (Xinjiang), interviews, and gives intermittent historical context, but I like his transparency and the fact he didn't take everything his interviewees said at face value and fact checked several times. Its also the only book on Uyghurs available to me.
