Finished at 4PM New years eve! Perfect timing. My last book of the year and last before I start the Trilogy of Memory on New year's day.

After Sigrid Undset introduced teenaged Ingunn and Olav, betrothed but very young but with very good prospects, I thought I saw the makings of a dynastic historical epic. But then:
-They tasted the forbidden fruit
-A revenge burning of a neighbor
-The the death of the parents
-The cancellation of their betrothal
-The intervention of the Church
Now I see the the makings an epic, I think.
