“I recall that the main character of the book, who I'm almost entirely certain was a man, made coffee with the same water he'd boiled eggs in, and that struck me because it might have been something I'd do if I drank coffee, which at the time I didn't. Though I did wee in the bath from time to time, which seemed to me on a par with drinking coffee made from the same water that eggs had been boiled in.”
