Book III contains multiple stories, all tied into each other ultimately leading to the death of Pentheus. My favorite portion of this book is the story of Narcissus and Echo who both suffered at the hands of reflection and repetition (respectively).

Book 1: As told by the Introduction, each book will deal with a transformation. The first two transformations are Chaos into the Milky Way and Io into a heifer. Both of these are in book one. The most interesting part of this book for me was the parallelism to the Old Testament as the book starts like Genesis and goes into even a flood caused by the gods to cleanse the earth of mortals’ sins.
