I am not sure how the author, the editor, and the copy editor never googled "are there postcolonial studies departments." I believe the word Chou is looking for is Ethnic Studies department.

Ok, I get that it's a satire, but naming an actual human woman Cixi is really too much.

Chou references the poet Xiao-Wen Chou as a "Chinese Robert Frost" it's an interesting thought experiment. While I think there are a few black poets who have possibly made it into the American canon to the level of Frost (i.e. obligatory high school read) Hughes and Brooks come to mind, I am not sure that there has been a Chinese American poet who has made it there.
