Ch.13 explains that just as Europe reaches it's peak with German philosophy in 18th,and by the replacement of Reason with Religion after Darwin, all substitutes for Religion like Arts and romanticism failed to act effectively as a drive for fighting or living for,Hitler took rise and ww2 despared any kind of belief.probably Just like Alexander the Great did with the Ancient Greece.

There has been a change in the identity of the Europe and its demographics after ww2, and a place where we know now in our memories is so rapidly and changing that, through our lifespan we will see a Europe we know nothing about.
And sadly it is changing for worse, thanks to the unstoppable immigration that replaces natives with people of underdeveloped regions,coming and breeding in the house of liberty and science.
