I'm not sure if I already compare my love for Lenz' writing to how I feel about Banana Yoshimoto - there is a stability and reliability in their works that balances out that I don't always finish a story and go "wow". With Lenz I have my favorites, the same goes for Yoshimoto; everything in-between is enjoyable and exactly what you expect, but not breathtaking. The same can be said for this collection so far.
