no I would say listen, and I also find some books I like listening to better than reading and vice versa. High dialogue books tend to be better listening imo it’s like a podcast you can do while doing chores

follow up though: if someone enjoys listening to a book and it bothers you.. how come?

@mackenzie Interesting. To clarify, i think audiobooks are great. But some booktubers or booktokers always mention reading like 100 books in a year, but 60 of them were audiobooks… like you said, the fact that im on chess.com or cleaning the kitchen while listening to an audiobook automatically disqualifies it for me as something that i’ve read. Like i wouldnt add it to my goodreads challenge. U feel me? But dont worry other ppls joy does not make me upset lol

ahh I see, I didn’t know if you were being an audio book hater.. I think if I was a book tuber I would be upfront about it but being that I just read/listen as a casual thing I don’t think much about it.. I also like to read and listen to nonfiction at the same time

but I agree there’s a difference between listening and reading but I also think you can enjoy both at different times and for different reasons and there should be no superiority feeling for doing one or the other

Listen, im gonna feel superior no matter what i choose to do. Vilifying people on the other side of trivial debates is like my favorite things to do. But i agree with everything you said. Never tried the reading+listening to nonfiction trick, but that sounds dope. Will let u know when i try it out

as a matter of fact, i am writing a book lowkey and if it ever magically gets published i would def read it myself for the audiobook
