I think this is where I stop reading. I just can’t summon any enthusiasm for the story. It’s dull. And still the word ‘slips’ as in pieces of paper with notes appears several times in every paragraph. The author might have used synonyms sometimes. Esme is dull too. Cannot like her at all.

So far I’m finding it dull and boring despite being told it was good. I know Oxford. Family lived there. It’s an interesting town. Town and gown. But if I read the word ‘slips’ once more I don’t know what I’ll do. Rampant overuse. Can’t say I like Esme either.
I will persevere. For our book club.
