One sad part was when Owen saw trees were burnet. Owen and George went to the opposite direction of the frozen lake. He saw the many trees were black because they were burnet. They didn't have any leaves and were dead. In stated in the text "All the trees ere burnet black. They were leafless and dead. The reason why this is because there was a wildfire. This proves that this is sad because the environment is damage.

One character trait that describes Akira is skillful. She is in the mountains with a lot of trees surrounding her. The trees are on fire. She remembers what her dad says about global warming and it isn't a problem. She uses that anger to get out of her problem. It stated in the text "back through the valley and around the base of the mountain she had just crossed.(238) she is skillful because she crossed burning trees.

One surprising part was when Owen was hit by a polar bear. Owen is in Churchill, Manitoba; in front of him is a momma polar bear. He cowered in front of the polar bear to show that he isn't a threat; but the momma polar bear still hit him. " swatted at him with one of her claws, shredding the sleeve of his parka and raking long, deep gashes in his arm."(95) this is surprising because he got hit by a momma polar bear.

One important was when Akira Kristiansen spots a wildfire but her dad did nothing. Her father thought that it was a nature thing. He thought that it was part of nature. He believes that humans didn't do anything bad to the environment. "Dad, look. A wildfire! Akira Kristiansen cried."(2) This is important because they didn't do anything. If they did something then, they would have a problem at all.
