“I placed the fine web of skin between my thumb and forefinger right underneath my canines and bit as hard as I could.” I know this is a weird thing to get hung up on, but not only can no one in my immediate vicinity actually bite that bit of skin with JUST their canines, but dude the human mouth is DISGUSTING. This would have been a Big Deal.
