Don't know what I'm going to do now. DNF? Skip ahead? Wait a few days (can't wait too long, it's a library book) then push myself to continue? There's a reason why I don't read books about queer characters in the 1950s, but I went against my usual judgement in order to give this a chance. I'm invested enough in the mystery now that I don't really want to DNF... but I don't know if I can bear to keep reading, either.

Wait a second. This guy, one of the main suspects, has been on page how many times — let's just say a lot, because the MC lives in the same house as him — and now, 3/4 of the way through, we're being told for the first time that he has a beard?
Not to mention, it's 1952? And he's a businessman, in fact basically a CEO? Uhhhhh.... I'm gonna say no. What a weird glitch.

Chapter 10 is the bad one I think. 11 is some consolation. I think the only other stressful thing for me was something with Cliff, but I forget when it happens.
If you haven't hit 10 yet, is it the part where he goes to the coroner? That was bad.

Ok, yeah. That one was a unpleasant twist on the old detective gets knocked unconscious thing. I don't think there's any plot relevant info there you'll miss out if you just skip to the next chapter. 11 he gets doctored and there's some I felt overly obvious setup for sequel relationships, that's important I think. To the best of my recollection there's no more current timeline violence after 10. The only other maybe triggering thing I recall is C's history, you know he's not who he says already, but in brief (view spoiler) if you want to peek.
