I think that I am starting to get to the plot of the book as I have now heard about a purple hibiscus. I wonder if we will learn about Aunty Ifeomas “good freind in Phillipa” because she is the person who made the plant (Adichie 128). I have no idea how this plant could affect the characters in the book as much as I think it will. I am excited to see.

This is a strong window book for me because I live with a great family, but seeing the situation that Kambili is in really allows me to see the lives of people that have different situations as me. At this point in the book Kambili can barely hug her dad, but instead "[stands] there and [stares] as [him]" because of all the things he has done to her and her mom (Adichie 252).

A prediction for the rest of the book is that Papa gets more consistent with the beatings and something bad ends up happening to him. I thought that he was going to get better when the kids when to Ifeomas house the second time, but the chapter ended with Kambili reminding the audience that "[that was] the day Papa threw his heavy missal across the room and broke the figurines" (Adichie 253).

A groups identity impacts the was people see themselves in good and bad ways. Kambili first thought that her cousins were loud and obnoxious, but after spending time with them she realized that they were not that bad. She also began to treat herself differently and began to have opinions on things that she did not have otherwise. Kambili “[sees] Father Amadi’s clay-colored face” in everything now (Adichie 205).

The book has finally gotten to the best parts. I wonder what will happen next, but I have a feeling that it has to do with Kambili wanting to leave. I predict this because when she got home, she was thinking about “how the living room had too much empty space, [and] too much wasted marble floor” (Adichie 192). I think she likes it better at her aunts.
