Henry the VIII is so full of domestic-political drama it’s fabulous 😯

OH MY 🤣 King and Kate!!! I’m giggling 🤭 I didn’t think this was going to be a comedy.

I love how the chorus opens with an invocation to the muse and also one to the audience. He asks us to ‘willingly suspend our disbelief’, use our imaginary forces to deck the walls and the kings with greatness. To consider that one figure may represent a million men, and that years took place in hours. It’s also a way to remind the audience this is fiction, not political commentary. It’s a brilliant opening

Henry the 5th ‘a kingdom for a stage’
Richard the 3rd ‘my kingdom for a horse’

I have 2 histories left: Henry the 5th as part of the Bard’s Glorious Rise, and Henry the 8th which will be deferred for the Twilight years.
