These a diaries of a man with strong literature talent and very sensitive soul. And an officer of the nazi Germany.
Very interesting reading, and a good reminder that people who fought for Germany in the Second World War are not some evil henchman from the B-movies but real people like me and you, and many of them are more sensitive to what is happening around them than I am.

This is the best book I’m reading in a long time. The author has a very sensitive soul, and I didn’t expect to feel such deep sympathy towards a German officer describing his life in Occupied France in 1941.
According to the author, the common language of people is underlying suffering, which is a basis of human existence and nature. That is the language I understand and speak well.
