Honestly this book is pissing me off. For a so-called feminist writer, it is distinctly un-feminist. Yeah it's looking at the story from Penelope's point of view, wanting to show how she was more than just a "well behaved patient wife"

And yet it constantly falls into the trap of women against each other. Penelope hates every single other woman in the story, and they her (and not in an unreliable narrator type way).
