Chris LaTray I'll be curious to know what you think of this, Cheryl! I've been wanting to read a chess book for years....

Cheryl Chris, first, let me say that I am a true beginner at chess. I don't even own a chess set yet and play primarily on the computer. I borrowed this book from the library to see what I thought before making a purchase.

I liked how the book was organized and written. At times it was a bit like drinking from a fire hose but I really tried to stick with the lessons to the best of my newbie ability. The author provides many sample scenarios and exercises at the end of each chapter. I would've gotten much more out of the book if I could have set up an actual chess board to play out the exercises. Not having that ability, I glossed over those exercises.

I could see myself purchasing this book and going back through the lessons more slowly and deliberately while using a chess board. There's just so much to learn and remember!! I hope this helps.
