A fascinating neoplatonic branch of Islam. Not much on the theology yet, but interesting to read how the whole assassin being derived from Hashish(iyya) was fake. Went from an early pejorative (from Sunnis) to the West in crusader tales, to Marco Polo, all seeing them as drugged assassins to make it make sense to Western minds. Even 19th cen orientalist scholars kept it going and it’s still common lore to this day.

Anis A. I don't think you're gonna get much in the way of theology in this one. Need to refer to other books for that

Mustafa Olomi Thanks Anis, I think you’re right. Did Daftary’s longer book cover that aspect well?

Anis A. It does to an extent, but for any details or actually to read the original sources and their analysis you'll have to refer to the translation works that might have been done at IIS and other places throughout the years. You'll have to dive deeper into that. For a superficial overview, the longer book works well.

Mustafa Olomi Thanks Anis, I haven’t searched the IIS website as much yet but good idea, I will soon. I was looking at academics like Khalil Andani.
