The author makes Rowley a big part in this story because Greg is always at school with him together & whenever Greg is bored he goes to Rowley's house. Greg's family is a important role in this story because Greg's life is surrounded by his family and they put him through a mix of emotions.

Audience and Purpose: The purpose of this book is to show real issues that kids struggle with, like bullying and friendship, and a character who doesn't always hit the right moral mark opens up opportunities for kids to figure out what they might do in that situation. Also, purpose to make people laugh. The audience of this book are middles schoolers and elementary students. These kids are interested in the comedy.

Point of View: This book is told in 1st person point of view. 1st person point of view means the narrator is a person in the story telling the story from his or her point of view. I know this book is 1st person point of view because it says I and I'm a lot. Also, the experiences described in the Diary have all happened to Greg directly, and Greg himself is writing them down on paper.
