Adversity impacted the way people viewed Rashad completely. Suddenly people at school started talking about him. The lady who tripped over him viewed him differently: “‘I just wanted to say I’m sorry about everything that is happened, I mean that is happening.’ She blinked hard” (Reynolds 241). Maybe it’s out of putty but a lot of people are staring to view Rashad differently because of his adversity.

“You didn’t deserve this. Your not a criminal” (Reynolds 193). Rashads mom believes her son and is fighting for him even if at the beginning we weren’t sure.

Rashad seems really reluctant to see people at the hospital. He shows this when he says “No one can come. I don’t want nobody to see me like this” (Reynolds 154). Usually people want comfort and support from people but Rashad wants to act tough and not have people come give him pity.
