Children’s song and dancing are ver valuable. “As imitation and example were, as it were, the magic words for education in the first years of childhood, for the years of this second period, the magic words are discipleship and authority.” When telling stories everything depends on the art of telling. Word-of-mouth narration cannot, therefore, simply be replaced by reading.
I need to tell stories not just read

It is essential that educators have at their disposal parables for all the laws of nature and secrets of the world.
Such as explaining the immortal soul with the transformation of a caterpillar

Memory suffers from mere facts. Parables bring understanding to facts which make them easy to remember.

They need teachers that look and act with happiness and, with honest unaffected love. Such a love that streams, as it were, with warmth through the physical environment of the children may be said to literally “hatch” the forms of the physical organs. The children who live in such an atmosphere of love and warmth, and who have around them truly good examples to imitate, are living in their proper element.

Until the age of 7, childens growth is primary physical and it is done through imitation. Childrens habits are learned in imitation. Their brains learn to either be creative and imaginative or to be fed “pretty things” that dull the brain. Their eyes thrive off of colors. This all rings true with charlotte masons heavy emphasis on nature and how it aids in child growth and development

“From what has been said, it is clear that we may speak of four members of human nature: the physical body, the etheric or life- body, the astral or sentient body, and the I-body. The sentient soul, the intellectual soul, the spiritual soul”

This seems like a long tangent of the author not teaching anything about education. What does it matter if there is an astral body? I already believe in my immortal soul

“From the nature of the growing and evolving human being, the proper viewpoint for Education will result spontaneously.”

Life in its wholeness is like a plant. You have to know the nature of the plant in order to know what it will look like in its various life cycles. Humans are far more complex though because each human is unique and undiscovered

“Spiritual science, by its inherent character and tendency, has the task of providing a practical concept of the world—one that comprehends the nature and essence of human life.”

Education: the complex interplay of body, soul, and spirit in the developmental process.

These lectures reveal Steiner’s selfless love for human beings, his idealism, and his practicality, and at the same time provide sustenance, inspiration, and many useful insights for teachers and parents alike.
