Even though I like the magical theory stuff I find myself being impatient with Marci's parts because I want to read about the dragons! They have all the drama right now!

Oh Julius, all those dragons must hate your guts for refusing to fight… your reputation will be interesting.

I've already forgotten the description of DFZ but whenever I think about Detroit I think about a young black man in a overall? Side effect of being European and hearing only about the racisme, poverty and car factories there.

So in my mind the Mortal Spirit DFZ looks like a young androgynous black-ish person. Ever changing depending on how the city feels.

Now I'm wondering how people with Chinese ancestry think about this story. I enjoy it but I know almost nothing about Chinese culture. It feels respectful because of the details but what about the portrayal of the dragons? Based on real myths? Is the way they defer realistic? Curious to find out. Maybe some reviewers have talked about this.
