Something somewhat interesting has finally happened...at 70% of the way through. Better late than never...?

How can this only be half over? And how can we be halfway through, yet nothing feels like it needs to be resolved (and nothing much is really happening)?

Well, we've extolled the virtues of Henry David Thoreau while trashing female authors as a whole, and there's a veritable an all-you-can-eat buffet of overwrought, nonsensical metaphors—so no, it's not getting better.

I'm reading this for my work book club, and it is already a struggle. It's so over-written I want to gag. I'm not surprised, since I hated A Gentleman in Moscow too much to finish it, but still. Katey Kontent? Please.
