Reading this is like going back in time for me. I feel like Dominis Holt wrote this book more to preserve a memory of time that was already fading in the 1970s, but there are parts that I can recognize in this young man's narration of his summer in Waimea with his uncle Fred. The time period is early 20th century so it is a very specific 'bridge of time'. It is hitting me in unexpected ways.
